Art Challenge & Exhibit

Open to any local artists working in any media

Whatcom READS! 2017 joins with Allied Arts of Whatcom County to sponsor an art challenge inspired by The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, the moving, big-hearted novel by author Jonathan Evison. Art will be submitted and displayed at the Allied Arts Gallery in March 2017.

It's easy to participate!

  • Read The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving
  • Create an art piece inspired by the book, considering the theme of "forgiveness" and other elements from the book to inspire your art
  • Submit your work to be exhibited at Allied Arts in March 2017

 

Key dates:

  • Submission form due: February 21, 2017
  • Artwork drop-off: 10 a.m.-5p.m. February 27 & 28, 2017
  • Opening reception: 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017
  • Exhibit dates: March 3-April 1, 2017
  • Artwork pick-up days: April 3 & 4, 2017

All mediums, genres and skill levels are welcome to participate in the exhibit. Works will not be juried. Membership with Allied Arts of Whatcom County is not required. Space is limited and items will be showed on a first come, first hung basis. Limit one piece per person.

 

 

 

 

Support Whatcom READS! Donations directly support programs and materials. For example:

  • Your $125 donation helps us purchase 10 copies of The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, organized in a book club kit available for check out from all public libraries in Whatcom County.
  • Your $200 donation helps us purchase 20 copies of The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving for "free-range" book distribution throughout Whatcom County. 
  • Your $500 donation helps us support the travel expense of bringing award-winning, best-selling authors to our area.
